October 2018

Judy at the Grand Canyon

Alexander Pharmacy said a very sad goodbye to our Retail manager Lorraine who headed up north to enjoy the sun and retirement. She is missed not only by us but by our patients and customers. We have since welcomed Daxa and Jess who come to us with much pharmacy experience and will be the friendly faces you meet coming into the pharmacy.

Some of us have been very lucky and got to escape the Wellington Winter. I went and had a lovely summer in Europe whilst Andrew and Roseanne were holding the fort in the dispensary. We were lucky enough to have 3 locum pharmacists Nathan, Simon and Adri who made themselves at home here and were lovely to our patients. Judy went to the States and walked the Grand Canyon - a grand feat no doubt.  Judy says it is a must do!!! Being not as adventureous or outdoorsy as Judy, I stuck to my wining and dining in the sun and came back with a tan.

Last month, we celebrated World Pharmacist Day which is a day to acknowledge the role that Pharmacists play in the healthcare team. Andrew and I used this day to focus on the expertise we have and put them to use everyday to ensure better patient health. This month we also celebrated World Pharmacy Technician Day. Although we always show our lovely tech Roseanne our love and appreciation, this day we made an extra effort to thank her for her support and contribution to the pharmacy.

For the rest of this month, we are focussing on organising for World Diabetes Day and Men's Health for November. Andrew will try his best efforts to groom and grow a mean slug on his face to mark the month in recognition of men's health.

Other news includes a recent poll which was cast for customers who have come into Alexander Pharmacy over the last week. The poll was conducted in order to gather the publics opinion on how they like their pharmacists to dress. The two options given were the clinical Lab coat and smart casual. With the end of the week in sight it can be safely said that the public prefers an approachable and friendly pharmacist dressed in smart casual attire. With that result we will continue to express ourselves as chosen by the public and wish everyone a fantastic long weekend!
