FEBRUARY 2021

January was a very busy month compared to previous years as many Wellingtonians stayed in town. We did miss hearing about our patient's lovely oversea's trips but thankfully New Zealand is such an awesome place and it seems like many of you got to spend some lovely time with family at amazing kiwi locations. I was lucky to get time off and go to the Hawkes Bay and was spolit with sun, wine and food. 

Our lovely pharmacy assisant Maia enrolled in a Pharmacy technican course and will be undergoing her training at Alexander Pharmacy as well as studying at the Open Polytech. Alexander Pharmacy was where I did my Pharmacist internship 8 years ago and I had the best mentors and collegues (do you remember Freddy, Judy, Katrina, Roseanne and Lorraine?) The staff and I will try our best to continue the supportive environment for Maia. During the summer we had Tane, a Bachelor of Pharmacy Student from Otago University doing his placement here. A placement involves the student learning hands on and also interacting and improving on their commmuncation skills. Tane was a very proactive student and we look forward to seeing him again. 

Speaking of learning, Sarah our Pharmacist has started a new job at the Pharmaceutical Society training future pharmacists. This is a new endeavour for her and we wish her well. I have worked with Sarah for many years and we made a fantastic pharmacist duo. Sarah was my both my professional and personal confidante - essentially my work wife. I miss seeing her daily terribly. If you miss Sarah as much as we do please let me know and I'll pass on your regards as we catch up often (she works down the road). 

My sister Leanne fills the other Pharmacist role at the pharmacy. She also graduated from Otago University and has 5 years community experience. We do look alike so don't be sorry if you mistake one of us for the other!
